Cats are growing increasingly smart. Sure, Hollywood has come out with the “Planet of the Apes” movie franchise, a post-Apocalyptic future where humans are subservient to simians.
Judging by the fact that cats can now open doors without thumbs, this places them into solid position of future potential overlords. This is also a better alternative to Burmese pythons, who have also been known to open human doors.
