Are Old Man Haircuts Acceptable Punishments?

A father is taking the law into his own hands and delivering old man haircuts for free to kids who may deserve them.

The barber — Russell Frederick — claims the first ‘George Jefferson’ haircut punishment was doled out to his crying son after a fit of misbehavior.  The official name of the haircut is actually the Benjamin Button Special, as it makes kids look like old men.

After seeing the effect of the haircut and fielding inquiry from others, Frederick decided it was time to offer this great punishment for free to other kids whose knuckleheaded antics landed them in trouble with their parents.

While some parents say the haircut is cruel and unusual punishment in any circumstances, some parents such as 39-year-old married mother of three, Latoya Greene, says they are a funny, memorable punishment.

“For any kids, black young men in particular, I would rather them get a little memorable punishment like this if they do something way out of line:  stealing something from a store, being aggressive with your mom:  you will get handed an old man haircut and learn to live with it.  It is better than seeing your cut ended up shot on the 5 o’clock news.”
