Nashville Actress Laura Benanti Casted As Supergirl Character

In my personal opinion I think the comic book world has over-stepped the boundaries with all of the upcoming movies and TV shows. I think they’ve over-saturated the media with the amount of comic book characters and series. But, I digress.

Although there has been a lot of recent news about the Earth-based characters in the upcoming Supergirl TV series, we’ve barely heard anything about how Kara Zor-El’s Kryptonian heritage will play a role in the series…until now. It was announced today that Nashville actress Laura Benanti has been cast in a “key” recurring role as Kara’s birth mother Alura Zor-El.

I can definitely say that I am NOT excited for this  or any of the upcoming DC Comic movies such as the Batman VS Superman movie featuring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. I’m very disappointed in the selection of actors and actresses for these movies. I could even say I’m ashamed. The question is, ‘Will DC Comics learn to leave the characters from their comics as they are and not mess with them too much?’
