Several weeks ago, a frank discussion arose in a Townhall meeting on a very controversial subject: discipline in the family.
America has certainly grown liberal in recent years, therefore it has increasingly grown out of fashion to punish one’s children or wife with swift strikes of a switch or belt. Indeed, the time has come where such actions can lead to punitive dictates by a court of law.
A colleague and I presented the titular question to a public forum. We even added ‘belt’ to that question. And the backlash was amazing: thousands of emails and phone calls, calling us ‘Sharia-terrorists’ to ‘typically abusive, authoritative Christian men’ for daring suggest that a lippy wife or child should get a bit of loving punishment for being too lippy. You Obama liberals argued that it is never okay to dole out corporal punishment in the family.
This logic brings us to the case of a Mr. Adrian Peterson, the NFL football player who stripped his son down to bared skin, pulled out a switch and proceeded to use his muscular 6’1″, 200 pounds+ hulking NFL crafted frame to whip on a 4-year-old child.
We can all see the extent of injury sustained by the child in the pictures above, the switch allegedly breaking the child’s skin in several places. There are reports of Peterson seemingly taking pride and joy over the fact the switch was wrapping around the child’s legs as he hit him again and again.
Now that these details have emerged, I find it shocking that many of the very people who were on their high horse against any sort of familial discipline, are suddenly trying to justify Peterson beating his kid with a switch.

What is wrong with you people! Why are so many people out there voting and supporting Peterson!
You can tell all the ghetto sob stories you want of Momma, Pops, and Granny beating you with belts and switches, being the only reason you aren’t out thugging on the mean streets. Here is some of what Peterson offered, you can read the full Tweet here:

And wouldn’t you know it, the Obama liberals are actually supporting him. I cannot believe the polling data that’s rolling in, then on top of that Just look at this MSNBC comment section, rife with responses of people fondly remembering ‘getting a whuppin’ as a kid and how those whoopings are warm, fuzzy memories.
So if you think a Christian Republican is doling out punishment, to the gallows! But the second it is someone like Adrian Peterson, he’s still allowed to play in the upcoming game this week! Granted, the Vikings got their butts kicked 30 – 7 last week during his ‘slap-on-write suspension’ because they are a one trick pony offense who rely on him to run the ball to generate any points.
Before anyone goes and tries to defend Peterson any more, what would you all be saying if this was his four-year-old DAUGHTER with these wounds in the same area. It’d be a whole different ball game! Hypocrites.
